Update on Lake of the Woods Drowning: Identification of Victim and Accident Details

LAKE OF THE WOODS, MN (trfnews.i234.me) Officials have identified a man who drowned on Lake of the Woods Thursday morning after a bombardier carrying 8 people fell through the ice. Seven were able to escape.
the victim of a drowning on Lake of the
Woods on Thursday morning has now been
identified as John F fry age 78 from
Prairie duac
Wisconsin uh this from the Lake of the
Woods County Sheriff Gary fish on
December 28th Thursday at 8:12 a.m. Lake
of the Woods County Sheriff Office was
notified of a possible drowning at the
Northwest angle near Flag Island on Lake
of the Woods an immediate search of the
area was conducted by Lake of the Woods
the sheriff’s County county office
Minnesota BCA and Department of Natural
Resources the location of the incident
occurred approximately 1/4 Mile South of
flag Island through the course of the
investigation it was determined that a
Bombadier tracked vehicle commonly
referred to as a bomber was transporting
a total of eight individuals to their
fishing location when the vehicle broke
through approximately 12 in of ice while
over 10 feet of water the driver along
with another nearby party immediately
began assisting the passengers with
their exit from the vehicle until the
cold water prohibited their continued
efforts seven of the eight uh of the
vehicle’s eight passengers were able to
escaped from the vehicle at
approximately 1:37 p.m. Law Enforcement
Officers recovered the uh deceased body
of John F fry age 78 from prusac
Wisconson from the vehicle further
investigation
