it was a murder suspect who committed suicide in the ottertail county jail this now went from the fergus falls police department on october 16th at 11 34 p.m the ottertail county detention facility advised dispatch of a medical emergency in the jail and requested an ambulance during routine checks a correctional officer found an inmate unresponsive in his sale the staff immediately started performing life-saving measures and were assisted by officers from the fergus falls police department and ring doll ambulance service until the inmate was pronounced dead at 1207 a.m a post-mortem exam was conducted by the ottertail county coroner who ruled the death a suicide the deceased was the sole occupant of the cell and the incident had occurred after the facility was secured for the evening the inmate was identified as derrick john swear 41 years old of perham minnesota sweera had been incarcerated in the jail since march 30th 2020 on a murder charge the fergus falls police department investigated the incident the minnesota department of corrections was also notified regarding the inmate death i’m Neil Berg reporting for eye news dot tv
