death on Lake of the Woods on this
Thursday morning this in from uh Sheriff
Gary fish of Lake of the Woods County on
December 28th today Thursday at
approximately 8:12 a.m. Lake of the
Woods Sheriff’s Office notified of a
possible drowning at the Northwest angle
near Flag Island on Lake of the Woods
immediate search of the area was
conducted by the Lake of the Woods
County Sheriff’s Office BCA and
Department of Natural Resources the Cass
County Lakes area dive team was called
to assist in the incident around uh 3:05
p.m. the body of a male was recovered in
approximately 10 ft of water the
incident remains under inven
investigation pending autopsy the name
of the victim will not be released until
family members have been notified again

learned it sounds like a Bombadier used
to take people uh to Resorts and out on
the lake uh went through uh and there
may have been others in that that
survived uh but again at this time

I don't understand why these people are going out on the ice. It is not safe this year. No fish, no vacation is worth losing a life for. RIP

With all the advancements in gear why anybody drowns is beyond me. We have float suits, life jackets and self inflating life vests. Why so few people use them is disappointing

I'm starting to think maybe the dnr should be held to some accountability with all the rescues this year. I'm mean they can stop us from feeding wildlife year round on our property but can't stop people from going out on UNSAFE ICE come on . Whose finally gonna say enough is enough and stop this ???

I’m an ice fisherman and know the risks but I don’t have to beat my chest and have an ego to prove I can be out on sketchy ice. Be safe and check the ice with a spud bar instead of assuming!!!!
Fishing is this addicting? Maybe MN should have classes on this so they can learn how to wait for the water to actually freeze….🤓
