GRAND FORKS AIR FORCE BASE, ND (trfnews.i234.me) The latest on the investigation into the crash of a $13-million Global Hawk Drone near the Grand Forks Air Force Base Friday moring.
in the inset is video from grand forks friday morning heavy fog was blanketing the northern valley at 7 a.m friday a global hawk unmanned aircraft a drone valued at 130 million dollars was nine miles northwest of the grand forks air base it was positioning for a landing when it crashed in a farm field destroying it no one on the ground was injured on this saturday sergeant tiggs of uh public affairs tells eye news it’s not believed fog would have been a possible cause for the crash the aircraft with a 131-foot wingspan is designed to fly at high altitudes through all kinds of weather conditions the crash site remains off limits as sergeant tigg says pieces of the aircraft are gathered and hauled back to the air base he says it’s not known yet if the pieces will be reconstructed as part of the investigation sergeant tiggs says they may know in a couple of weeks what caused the crash uh global hawks are used to gather real-time video surveillance of war zones and provide a communications platform but at this point what exactly caused the destruction of this 130 million dollar global hawk remains up in the air i’m Neil Berg reporting for eye news dot tv
