Hillsboro, Traill County (trfnews.i234.me) — A Lankin man is facing multiple felony charges after a task force officer located methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia during a vehicle search in Hillsboro this week.

According to court records, the incident happened on Tuesday, November 18, 2025, around 3:17 p.m. A task force officer found 30-year-old Broden Troy Swartz in a vehicle parked at Casey’s General Store. The officer had been investigating Swartz for separate allegations, including reckless endangerment and unlawful possession of a firearm.

The officer contacted Swartz’s parole officer, who authorized a search of the vehicle. During the search, officers found approximately 11 grams of methamphetamine along with drug paraphernalia. According to investigators, other items in the vehicle suggested active drug dealing.

Swartz was taken into custody at the scene. He now faces several charges in Traill County District Court, including:

  • Possession with intent to manufacture or deliver methamphetamine
  • Unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia (second offense)
  • Driving under suspension (fourth or subsequent offense within five years)

Authorities have not released additional details about the unrelated reckless endangerment and firearm investigations. Court documents indicate that the substance found in the vehicle field-tested positive for methamphetamine. The paraphernalia reportedly included packaging materials and other items consistent with distribution.

Swartz was transported to the Traill County Jail following his arrest. An initial court appearance is expected later this week. The case remains under investigation, and additional charges may be filed depending on laboratory results and information gathered through the ongoing parole review.

The Traill County Sheriff’s Office and the task force involved in the search have not released any further information. More updates will be provided as new details are filed in court records.
