TRAILL COUNTY, ND (trfnews.i234.me)—On January 22, 2025, at approximately 3:15 PM CST, a 2001 Honda CRV was traveling northbound on Interstate 29, about 3.5 miles south of Buxton, North Dakota.
The vehicle lost control on icy road surfaces, entered the east ditch, and overturned. Both occupants were ejected. Randi Rae Crepps, a 39-year-old female from Minot, ND, was pronounced deceased at the scene. Steven Brekhus, a 74-year-old male from Kenmare, ND, sustained life-threatening injuries and was transported by air to Sanford Hospital in Fargo, ND.
Seat belts were not in use; airbags did not deploy.
The North Dakota Highway Patrol, Traill County Sheriff’s Office, West Traill/Sanford Ambulance, and Buxton Fire & Rescue responded to the incident.
The crash remains under investigation, including determining which individual was driving at the time.
