OTTER TAIL LAKE, MN (trfnews.i234.me) – A leisurely afternoon on Otter Tail Lake turned tragic when a 63-year-old Fergus Falls man, David Kantrud, drowned on Saturday. According to the Otter Tail County Sheriff’s Office, the incident occurred around 2:34 p.m. on the northwest side of the lake.
Kantrud was on a pontoon with family members when he fell into the water while attempting to retrieve an item. Nearby boaters quickly responded, pulling the unconscious Kantrud from the water within minutes. The Otter Tail County Water Patrol arrived shortly after and assisted in efforts to save him, but despite their efforts, Kantrud was pronounced dead upon reaching the shore.
