Pennington County (trfnews.i234.me) — Brian Allen Torkelson, 35, has been sentenced.
The case includes a felony count and a misdemeanor trespassing count.
Sentence and probation terms
A judge imposed a 33-month prison term on the felony count.
The prison time was stayed for five years.
That means he avoids prison if he follows the rules.
Torkelson was ordered to serve five years of supervised probation.
He must complete the Domestic Abuse Batterers’ Intervention Program.
He must follow any active no-contact or protection orders.
He must complete any mental health services ordered during supervision.
The court ordered him held until transport to treatment.
As of Feb. 22, he had 97 days of credit for time served.
The court also barred him from firearms, ammunition, and explosives.
He must provide a DNA sample.
He was ordered to pay $135 in fees and fines.
On the trespassing count, the court imposed 90 days in jail.
The jail time was considered served.
How the case started
The case stems from a reported break-in on Snetting Drive in Thief River Falls.
The call came in around 9:05 p.m. on Nov. 18, according to the complaint.
What the complaint alleges
A woman told officers that Torkelson entered her home without permission.
She said she had told him not to come to her home.
She said he left items described as drugs on the floor.
She also reported threats, according to the complaint.
She said he threatened to burn her house.
She said he threatened to slash her tires.
She said the threats were made in front of her juvenile daughter.
Officers searched but did not find him at first, the complaint states.
Later, law enforcement returned to the residence.
The woman gave permission to unlock and enter the home.
Authorities say they found Torkelson inside.
