Thief River Falls Threats Lead to Felony Charges

THIEF RIVER FALLS (trfnews.i234.me) — A Bagley man faces charges after a reported domestic incident.

Tristan Elmer Thompson, 21, has been charged in Pennington County District Court.

The charges include domestic assault, fourth-degree property damage, and disorderly conduct.

Thompson also faces two felony counts of threats of violence.

He received a summons ordering him to appear in court.

Argument Reported Near 158th Street

The incident was reported near 158th Street Northeast, according to the criminal complaint.

Thompson’s girlfriend said they argued while walking in the area.

She told investigators Thompson threatened to kill her and break her jaw.

The complaint says Thompson chased her when she tried to walk away.

He allegedly took her phone and threw it onto the ground.

The impact shattered the back of the phone, according to the complaint.

Thompson also allegedly punched, hit, and slapped the woman.

She said he threw a baseball-sized rock that struck her right side.

The woman returned to the AmericInn after the reported incident.

While speaking by phone, a deputy reportedly heard a thud.

The woman later said Thompson threw an object at the vehicle where she sat.

She provided investigators with screenshots of text messages the following day.

The complaint says Thompson wrote that he should have knocked her unconscious.

He also allegedly wrote that he should have left her for dead.

In another exchange, the woman referenced his reported threat to break her jaw.

Thompson allegedly responded with crying and laughing emojis.

He also allegedly said he would do it and did not care.

Another message allegedly said he should have assaulted her because of the trouble caused.

Two days later, the woman went to a hospital for a possible broken rib.

She gave investigators a photo showing redness and a small cut.

She also reported pelvic pain after the incident.

A doctor reportedly said bruising could take one week to appear.

The woman signed releases allowing law enforcement to obtain her medical records.

The complaint notes a January 2022 domestic assault adjudication in Koochiching County.

It does not state whether the same woman was involved in that case.

Charges are allegations. Thompson is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.
