Reporting and records

Minnesota law requires drivers in a crash to stop and share information.

That rule is outlined in Minnesota Statute 169.09.

The statute also covers staying at the scene and providing basic driver details.

It also describes showing a driver’s license when asked.

These steps can help with insurance and paperwork later.

For non-emergency help, the city lists the police department at 218-681-6161.

Contact details are posted on the Thief River Falls Police Department page.

The state also explains how crash reports can be requested.

It says reports are no longer submitted to Driver and Vehicle Services.

It also says reports are available about three weeks after the incident.

That information is on the Minnesota Department of Public Safety website.
