Thief River Falls (trfnews.i234.me) — Police responded to a parking lot crash in Thief River Falls on March 26. The call came in at 5:12 p.m. The crash was reported at SouthTown Lanes, Pizza and Pub.
What Happened
According to the report, Michael Hemmestvedt of Goodridge was leaving a parking space in a 2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee. At the same time, Chelsey Shanahan of Thief River Falls was backing a 2016 Ford Explorer.
The two sport utility vehicles then collided in the parking lot. The crash happened during normal evening traffic at the business. Police were called to the scene after the vehicles struck each other.
Officials said there were no known injuries. The report did not list any ambulance response. It also did not state that anyone was taken to a hospital.
Scene Details
The crash took place in the parking lot, not on a public street. Parking lot crashes often happen at low speed. Even so, they can still cause damage and tie up traffic near businesses.
SouthTown Lanes, Pizza and Pub is a known stop in Thief River Falls. Incidents in busy lots can happen when drivers back out at the same time. In this case, both vehicles were moving as the collision occurred.
No Injuries Reported
No injuries were known at the time of the report. That means the crash appears to have ended without serious harm. The report only noted vehicle contact and did not mention any citations.
Anyone involved in a crash should exchange information and report the incident when needed. Drivers should also stay alert in crowded parking areas. Backing slowly and checking blind spots can help prevent similar crashes.
