Thief River Falls, MN (trfnews.i234.me) – On July 16, 2024, Guadalupe Francisco Peralta, a 34-year-old resident of Thief River Falls, was sentenced in Pennington County District Court. Peralta was convicted of felony fifth-degree possession of a controlled substance, specifically fentanyl, due to a previous drug conviction.
Peralta received a 15-month prison sentence to be served concurrently with another case. In addition, he is prohibited from using or possessing firearms, ammunition, or explosives, and was ordered to pay $210 in fees and fines. Other charges, including another felony fifth-degree controlled substance crime and misdemeanor charges of driving after revocation and possession of a dangerous weapon, were dismissed.
The charges arose from a traffic stop on March 12, 2023, where Peralta’s vehicle was stopped due to his revoked driver’s license. During the stop, officers discovered a variety of drugs and paraphernalia in the vehicle, including fentanyl pills disguised as Percocet, methamphetamine, and drug residue.
Peralta had a prior felony drug conviction from August 2020, which influenced the severity of his current sentence.
