Employee Reports Alleged Threat
According to the complaint, Miller called RDO Equipment and asked to speak with Andrew Miller.
The complaint says Miller accused Andrew Miller of stealing a gas cap from his tractor.
Prosecutors allege Lyle Miller then threatened to kill Andrew Miller during a recorded phone call.
Andrew Miller told investigators the call left him concerned for himself and his family.
The complaint says he appeared shaken while giving a recorded statement.
Investigators also learned the two men had previous business dealings involving equipment parts.
Miller Arrested and Interviewed
Court records say Lyle Miller was later taken into custody in rural Pennington County.
He was transported to the Pennington County Law Enforcement Center in Thief River Falls.
The complaint says investigators advised Miller of his rights before questioning began.
Miller allegedly admitted calling RDO Equipment and speaking about Andrew Miller.
He also allegedly said he wanted to fight Andrew Miller.
The complaint says Miller acknowledged making a violent statement about shooting and decapitating Andrew Miller.
Miller allegedly claimed the statement was made while speaking with his father.
He claimed the statement was not made directly to Andrew Miller.
Miller later asked to speak with a lawyer, according to the complaint.
Investigators ended the interview after that request.
Miller was then booked into the Pennington County Jail.
Felony Charge Filed
Miller is charged under Minnesota Statute 609.713, subdivision 1.
The law covers certain threats involving crimes of violence.
It includes threats made with intent to terrorize another person.
It also covers conduct involving reckless disregard for causing such terror.
A conviction can carry up to five years in prison.
The maximum fine under the statute is $10,000.
