A Thief River Falls resident, Paul Joseph Warnke, 55, is facing felony charges after allegedly threatening to shoot a sheriff’s deputy during a domestic assault investigation on Friday morning. Warnke was arrested and charged with felony terroristic threats.
According to the complaint, a Pennington County sheriff’s deputy was dispatched to an apartment building on Douglas Ave. around 8:40 a.m. in response to a report of a domestic assault. The deputy approached the apartment, identified as Warnke’s residence, and knocked on the door.
Warnke allegedly responded aggressively, insisting that law enforcement needed a search warrant to approach his door and twice threatened to shoot the deputy. The deputy withdrew from the situation, and a warrant was later issued for Warnke’s arrest. He was booked into the Pennington County Jail later that day.
