Thief River Falls, Minnesota (trfnews.i234.me) – A simple school vape detector alert at Lincoln High School has uncovered a disturbing case involving 42-year-old Corey John Benoit, who is now facing multiple charges for allegedly supplying alcohol and nicotine vapes to a minor.
The shocking revelations surfaced after a school resource officer received a report on January 22 that a student had been caught vaping in a bathroom. Upon further investigation, police discovered that the student had not only been in possession of nicotine and THC vapes but had also allegedly been receiving alcohol and other substances from Benoit.
Text Messages Expose Alcohol & Vape Purchases
Key evidence in the case came from text messages found on the student’s phone, which was confiscated by his guardians. The messages dated back to October 3 and revealed that:
Benoit had arranged an alcohol purchase for the student.
He sent the teen a receipt from Falls Liquor for Smirnoff Red, White & Blue and Cherry Dr. McGillicuddy alcohol.
He confirmed delivery of the alcohol and instructed the teen to delete their messages.
Teen Admits to Multiple Illegal Purchases
The 16-year-old student later confessed to the school resource officer that Benoit had: Bought alcohol for him 3-4 times.
Supplied him with nicotine vapes on a regular basis.
Once provided him with marijuana, which they smoked together.
Discussed selling marijuana and even offered the teen some in exchange for helping him get rid of it—though the plan never materialized.
Charges Filed Against Benoit
Benoit has been charged with: Furnishing alcohol to a person under 21
Contributing to the delinquency of a minor
Authorities also obtained a receipt from the liquor store, proving the alcohol was purchased with a credit card belonging to a woman romantically involved with Benoit.
This shocking case has raised serious concerns about underage substance abuse and adult involvement in illegal sales. Law enforcement is continuing its investigation into Benoit’s actions.
