Thief River Falls, MN (trfnews.i234.me) — Larry Douglas Johnson, 86, of Thief River Falls, died Tuesday, Jan. 20, 2026.
He died at the Thief River Care Center.
Life and education
Johnson was born on March 7, 1939, in Thief River Falls.
His parents were Lloyd and Emily (Jacobson) Johnson.
He was baptized and confirmed at Calvary Lutheran Church in St. Hilaire.
He attended grade school in St. Hilaire.
He graduated from Lincoln High School in 1957.
He graduated from the University of Minnesota School of Agriculture in 1959.

Marriage and work
Johnson married Sharon Anderson on July 15, 1961.
They were married at Trinity Lutheran Church in Thief River Falls.
They had one daughter, Carrie.
He worked 32 years for the Farmers Union Grain Terminal Association.
He managed grain elevators in Pittsburgh, North Dakota.
He also managed elevators in Glasston, North Dakota.
He later managed an elevator in Warren, Minnesota.
After retiring, the couple returned to Thief River Falls.
They enjoyed traveling during retirement.
They also spent winters in California.

- Great-grandchildren: Zackery, Mattie, Audrey, Ayla, and Beckett
- Twin brother: Lee (Carole) Johnson
- Sister: Cherry Jacobson
- Sister-in-law: Arlene Swenson
- Many nieces and nephews
Service plans
Johnson was preceded in death by his parents.
He was preceded in death by Ben and Ethel Anderson.
He was preceded in death by Ron Swenson and Bill Jacobson.
A private memorial will be held at a later date.
