Pennington County (trfnews.i234.me) — A Karlstad man is charged with a felony gun offense in Pennington County District Court.

Prosecutors charged Evan James Tyler Timm, born March 1, 1990, court records show.

The complaint lists Prosecutor File No. 25-600-109 and Court File No. 57-CR-25-830.

The allegation

Timm is charged as ineligible to possess firearms under Minnesota Statute 624.713.

Prosecutors allege he possessed a firearm or ammunition in Pennington County on October 20, 2025.

The complaint says he has a prior conviction for a crime of violence.

The contact that led to the case

According to the complaint, a conservation officer contacted Timm on October 29, 2025.

The contact involved a possible hunting violation.

The officer learned Timm had an active warrant, the complaint says.

Timm was arrested and taken to the Pennington County Jail.

Items found near the scene

The next day, the officer returned to collect jugs of “buck jam,” the complaint says.

The officer noticed the jugs were gone.

The officer then found a Savage rifle purchase box near the spot.

The officer also found hunting items hidden under nearby equipment.

The officer later called Timm to ask about the missing items.

Timm admitted he returned to the area and recovered the jugs, the complaint says.

During the call, Timm commented on the rifle box.

The complaint says the officer had not mentioned the box yet.

Timm also admitted he is a felon, according to the complaint.

He said he cannot possess a firearm.

Store purchase traced

Investigators used information from the rifle box to trace the sale.

The complaint says an ATF agent helped confirm purchase details.

Records show Allison Elaine Corbet bought the rifle on October 20, 2025.

The complaint says the purchase happened at L&M Fleet Supply in Thief River Falls.

Investigators say Corbet is Timm’s girlfriend.

Surveillance video described

An investigator reviewed store video with management on November 6, 2025, the complaint says.

The complaint says the man in the video was identified as Timm.

Video shows him handling, inspecting, and aiming the rifle inside the store.

The complaint says he tried to return the rifle and swap it for another one.

Store rules required the buyer to complete new paperwork, the complaint says.

The complaint says Corbet came in and completed the exchange paperwork.

Investigators say Timm handled the rifle again and carried it out of the store.

Background and possible penalty

The complaint lists prior convictions, including burglary in 2010 and theft in 2023.

The felony charge carries up to 15 years in prison and a $30,000 fine.

Charges are allegations, and a defendant is presumed innocent.
