Pennington County (trfnews.i234.me) — A Thief River Falls woman avoided injury after her SUV slid off an icy road in Pennington County and tipped onto its side.

Crash Reported Thursday Afternoon

The crash happened on March 6 at about 1:31 p.m. Deputies received a report of a vehicle accident near 120th Avenue Northwest and 200th Street Northwest.

Authorities said Kathleen Thorstad, of Thief River Falls, was driving a 2016 Mazda CX-5. She was traveling in the area when she lost control on the icy roadway.

The SUV then left the road and entered the ditch. The vehicle came to rest on its side.

No Known Injuries

No known injuries were reported after the crash. The brief incident report did not list any other injured people.

The report also did not give more details about damage to the vehicle. It did not say how long the SUV remained in the ditch.

No other vehicles were mentioned in the report. The incident appears to have involved only Thorstad’s SUV.

Icy Roads Remain a Risk

This crash is another reminder of how fast winter roads can turn dangerous in northwest Minnesota. Even daytime travel can become risky when roads ice over.

For now, authorities say the outcome could have been worse. Thorstad’s vehicle ended on its side, but no injuries were known at the scene.

The crash remains a clear example of how icy county roads can quickly lead to trouble for drivers in Pennington County.
