Thief River Falls: Driver Cited After Collision with Juvenile on Bike

Thief River Falls, MN (trfnews.i234.me)A serious incident occurred in Thief River Falls over the weekend when a vehicle struck a juvenile who was riding their bike. According to police reports, James Mattison was driving his red Kia and had entered an intersection where he turned left onto Highway 59 from the 1500 block of 1st Street.

The officers’ report indicates that Mattison had the green light at this time but failed to yield right of way to oncoming traffic. Unfortunately, a juvenile who was riding their bike in the crosswalk was struck by the vehicle.

Police responded quickly to the scene just before 5pm on October 11th and cited Mattison for Failure to Yield Right of Way to Oncoming Traffic. The authorities are urging drivers to exercise caution when approaching intersections and to always yield right of way to pedestrians or cyclists who may be in crosswalks.
