Officers were sent to the intersection of Highway 59 and First Street in Thief River Falls.
Investigators said icy pavement played a role in the crash.

What happened
Zander Olson, of Thief River Falls, was driving a 2005 Ford Escape south on Highway 59.
Police said Olson approached First Street and lost control on the ice.
The Escape then hit the rear of a 2020 Dodge Ram 2500.
James McClain, of Thief River Falls, was driving the pickup.
Both drivers stayed at the scene, according to the report.
Traffic slowed while officers checked the vehicles and cleared the roadway.
Police did not share the exact impact point within the intersection.
The report also did not list the speed of either vehicle.
No ambulance transport was noted.
