Thief River Falls Court Report: DWI Sentences and Fines
THIEF RIVER FALLS, Minn. (trfnews.i234.me) — Several DWI cases, dismissals and traffic violations were recently resolved in Pennington County District Court.
The cases involved the Pennington County Sheriff’s Office, Thief River Falls Police Department and Minnesota State Patrol.
Pennington County Sheriff’s Office Cases
Harlan Robert Osborn, 24, of Thief River Falls, was sentenced for second-degree DWI involving test refusal.
He was fined $985, with $750 stayed.
A 364-day jail sentence was stayed for three years.
Osborn was placed on supervised probation for three years.
He must complete a comprehensive assessment and follow recommended treatment and aftercare.
He was also ordered to complete Marshall County DWI Court.
Osborn may not possess firearms, ammunition or explosives while on probation.
The court granted a stay of adjudication on a felony fleeing charge.
That case was continued with three years of supervised probation.
Misdemeanor driving-after-revocation and non-motor-vehicle fleeing charges were dismissed.
Isaiah Wejmar Newman, 30, of Thief River Falls, was sentenced for second-degree DWI with two aggravating factors.
Newman was fined $1,410.
He received 364 days in jail, with 334 days stayed for four years.
The remaining 30 days may be served in jail or through electronic home monitoring.
Thief River Falls Police Cases
A felony aiding-and-abetting burglary charge against Isaac Granados, 38, was dismissed.
Oslay Yusniel Cruz, 18, of Thief River Falls, had a disorderly conduct charge continued for dismissal.
He will be monitored without a conviction for six months.
An open bottle charge against Kimberly C. Diaz, 38, of Tucson, Arizona, was dismissed.
Garth Olaf Larson, 48, of Thief River Falls, was sentenced for third-degree DWI involving a controlled substance.
Larson was fined $685 and received 364 days in jail.
Of that sentence, 334 days were stayed for two years.
The remaining 30 days may be served in jail or through electronic home monitoring.
Ryan Orvis Houle, 40, of Newfolden, was sentenced for fifth-degree assault and disorderly conduct.
He received stayed jail sentences and one year of probation on each count.
A charge of interfering with a peace officer was dismissed.
Traffic and State Patrol Cases
Several defendants also received fines for speeding, window tint, registration and hands-free violations.
Alyssa Amberose Otto, 36, of Thief River Falls, was fined $125 for driving 50 mph in a 45 mph zone.
Tara Lee Wendt, 50, of Thief River Falls, was fined $285 for an uninsured vehicle violation.
Minnesota State Patrol cases included speeding, seat belt, registration and window tint violations.
Hands-free violations resulted in $135 fines in two separate cases.
