Thief River Falls (trfnews.i234.me) — A new round of court case updates from Thief River Falls and nearby agencies shows a mix of theft, DWI, traffic, and disorderly conduct cases. The cases involve the Thief River Falls Police Department, Pennington County Sheriff’s Office, Minnesota State Patrol, and the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources.

The most serious local case involved Ronald Maurice Smith, 69, of Fargo. A felony theft charge was continued for dismissal. Smith was ordered to pay a $50 fee, remain on court probation for two years, enroll in counseling, take a theft class, and pay restitution.

Main Cases From Thief River Falls

Lori Ann Severson, 65, of Thief River Falls, was sentenced for driving while impaired. Court records show an $810 fine. A 90-day jail sentence was stayed for two years. She was placed on probation for two years. She must complete an assessment and follow treatment and aftercare recommendations.

Llewellyn James Benais, 38, of Thief River Falls, was sentenced on a disorderly conduct case. He received 17 days in jail and credit for time served. A second disorderly conduct charge was dismissed.

Ethan Zachary Haugen, 21, of Thief River Falls, was fined $135 for disorderly conduct. A 10-day jail sentence was stayed for one year.

Traffic and License Violations

Several cases involved driving after revocation. Those included Kaylee Christine Kringen, Antonio Bernard Wesley, Amaya Nicolle Ortiz, Scott Richard Horning, Guadalupe Francisco Peralta, and Preston James Busse. Most of those cases brought $285 fines.

Other traffic-related cases involved proof of insurance, license violations, and speeding. Jordan Michael Waldo of Kelliher was fined $125 for driving 64 in a 60 zone. Hunter Blake Lindberg of Thief River Falls was fined $135 for driving 74 in a 60 zone. Michaela Pribyl Blackburn of Plummer was fined $125 for driving 70 in a 60 zone.

Cameron Scott Demmerly and Austin Keith Kees, both of Thief River Falls, were each fined $285 for no proof of insurance. Veronica Desiree Martinez of Kennedy also received a $285 fine for the same offense.

Regional Cases Also Filed

Jerod Konickson, 48, of Plummer, was sentenced for third-degree DWI in a State Patrol case. He was fined $815. A 364-day jail sentence was stayed for two years. He received credit for two days served. He must comply with the Minnesota Ignition Interlock Program.

In a DNR case, August Jason Cheeney, 32, of Thief River Falls, was fined $135. The case involved ATV rules for riders under 18 and helmet use. More details on ATV safety can be found through the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources.
