Thief River Falls, Minnesota (trfnews.i234.me) Cheryl Lynn Voecks died at her home on January 14, 2026. She was 67. Her husband, Terry Voecks, was by her side.

Early life and family

Voecks was born on July 26, 1958, in Marshfield, Wisconsin. Her parents were Carroll Buck and Nancy Buck, who was born Nancy Mathisen. She was baptized on August 31, 1958. She later moved to Thief River Falls.

She graduated from Lincoln High School in 1976. The school serves local students in Thief River Falls. The campus details are posted online by Lincoln High School.

Cheryl Buck married Terry Voecks on September 22, 1979. They raised their son, Cory Voecks, in Thief River Falls. Family members said she valued time at home.

Work and community ties

Voecks worked in food service and retail early in her career. She worked at Florence Café and at Northland Foods. She later worked at K-Mart from 1978 to 1994.

She joined Digi-Key in 1994. She stayed with the company until retiring in 2022. Co-workers remembered her kind and welcoming manner.

Personal life

Her family said she enjoyed flower gardening. She liked holiday decorating each year. She also enjoyed shopping and travel.

She often spent time with her grandchildren. They are Caleb and Jackie. Loved ones said those visits were her favorite.

Survivors

Voecks is survived by her husband, Terry Voecks. She is also survived by her son, Cory Voecks. She is survived by her grandchildren, Caleb and Jackie.

She is also survived by her siblings. They are Kathy Meyer, Susan Meyer, and Mark Buck. Susan Meyer is married to Glenn Meyer.

Voecks was preceded in death by her parents, Carroll and Nancy Buck. She was also preceded in death by her grandparents.

Service details

A Celebration of Life is set for 11 a.m. on Monday, January 19, 2026. The service will be held at Johnson Funeral Service in Thief River Falls. The Rev. Stephanie White will officiate.

Visitation will be held one hour before the service. A time of food and fellowship will follow. City notices and local updates are posted by the City of Thief River Falls.

  1. My condolences to her family. I worked with Cheryl back in the day at Kmart. She was always really helpful me as a new employee. Always very nice. My prayers to her family.
