Thief River Falls Area Crash Sends 3 to Hospital

Pennington County (trfnews.i234.me) — Three people were hurt in a rollover crash on an icy road in Pennington County on March 6.

The crash happened at about 1:13 p.m. near the intersection of Center Street East and 240th Avenue Southeast.

What Happened

According to the report, Nancy Johnson of Ponemah was driving a 2012 Dodge Ram 1500 westbound on Center Street East.

Johnson was pulling a trailer at the time of the crash.

The trailer jackknifed on the icy roadway. The pickup then pulled toward the ditch and rolled.

The crash happened in a rural area near Thief River Falls. Ice on the road appears to have played a key role.

Road conditions can change fast in northwest Minnesota. Drivers often face ice, snow, and reduced control during winter travel.

Johnson was injured in the crash. Two passengers were also hurt.

The passengers were identified as Chele Columbus-Kalstabakken and Dean Columbus-Kalstabakken.

All three were taken from the scene by ambulance.

The injured were transported to Sanford Medical Center in Thief River Falls.

Their conditions were not listed in the report provided.

No other vehicles were mentioned in the incident summary.

Icy roads remain a serious hazard across the region. Even a short trip can become dangerous when trailers lose traction.

Drivers are urged to slow down on slick roads. Extra stopping distance can help prevent crashes.

Travelers can monitor current road conditions through Minnesota 511.

This crash remains a reminder of how quickly winter road conditions can turn dangerous in Pennington County.

Authorities have not released any further details in the information provided.
