THIEF RIVER FALLS (trfnews.i234.me) – Police say a 13-year-old boy suffered minor injuries after being struck by a vehicle in a Thief River Falls crosswalk on Nov. 11.
The incident was reported at 8:23 a.m. at the intersection of First Street and Spruce Avenue. According to the police report, a 2008 Toyota Prius was traveling eastbound on First Street when it made contact with the boy, who was walking in the marked crosswalk.
The driver was identified as Chloe Grace Solheim of Beltrami. Police described the child’s injuries as “very minor.” The report released to the media did not indicate whether he received medical treatment at the scene or afterward.
Solheim was cited for careless driving and for failing to yield to a pedestrian in a crosswalk. Additional details about the cause of the incident were not included in the report.
State law requires drivers to stop for pedestrians in both marked and unmarked crosswalks. Officials continue to remind motorists to slow down and watch for pedestrians, especially near residential areas and school routes during the morning and afternoon hours.
