Roseville Man Charged in Minneapolis Murder Following Alleged Robbery – trfnews.i234.me

A Roseville man with a history of violent crime convictions is now charged with murder after a fatal shooting in Minneapolis late last month. Mickiah Latrell Jackson, 39, is accused of killing a man during what investigators say started as a robbery near the 3000 block of 15th Avenue South. Jackson was arrested six days later and is now being held on $1 million bail. Minneapolis police responded just before 7:50 p.m. and located 51-year-old Derrick Lamont Ewing, of Minneapolis, suffering from life-threatening gunshot wounds. He was taken to Hennepin Healthcare, where he later died. Investigators recovered several 9mm shell casings, a fired bullet and a bullet fragment lodged in a nearby stairwell, court documents said. Surveillance footage from nearby businesses and city cameras captured a man identified as Jackson walking up to Ewing, who was sitting with others. Jackson, wearing a white Calvin Klein shirt, is seen taking a black bag from Ewing. As a second person runs up, Ewing appears to turn and try to flee. Jackson then raises both arms toward Ewing as he runs into the street. Ewing collapsed moments later. Two people later identified Jackson to investigators as the shooter. One of them, who knew Jackson by a street name, said Jackson admitted to robbing and shooting Ewing. That person gave police a phone number linked to Jackson’s name and later confirmed his identity from a photo.
