Suspect in Custody After East Grand Forks Shooting and Grand Forks SWAT Standoff

GRAND FORKS, ND (trfnews.i234.me) – This update concerns a suspect who was barricaded in Grand Forks after shots were fired in East Grand Forks. The incident has been followed all day by TRF News. According to Sergeant Tony Hart of the East Grand Forks Police Department, the events unfolded this Sunday.

East Grand Forks Police received reports of shots fired in an apartment building located in the 400 block of 17th Street Northwest. Upon arrival, officers found no injuries. Witnesses identified the suspect as Marko D. Ruot and stated he had fled to Grand Forks.

Grand Forks Police located Ruot’s vehicle in the 3300 block of Primrose Court and eventually arrested him. Marko D. Ruot is currently held at the Grand Forks County Correctional Center awaiting formal charges.

The East Grand Forks Police Department expressed gratitude to the Polk County Sheriff’s Office, Minnesota State Patrol, Grand Forks Police, Grand Forks Sheriff’s Office, and the Grand Forks Regional SWAT team for their assistance.
