Substance Impairment Leads to DWI Charges for Thief River Falls Resident

Thief River Falls, MN (trfnews.i234.me) – On April 8 at 2:22 a.m., police performed a traffic stop near the intersection of First Street and Pennington Avenue.

Sherry Anne Ganser, 60, Thief River Falls, has been charged with second-degree DWI – controlled substance and gross misdemeanor fifth degree controlled substance crime.

She was arrested.

According to the complaint, Ganser allegedly displayed indicators of impairment due to the ingestion of a controlled substance. She was “administered  standardized field sobriety tests upon which she either performed poorly or refused to complete for medical reasons.”

A preliminary breath test had a result of 0.00 BAC.

A search warrant was executed for her blood. The complaint indicated that she possessed a cigarette case containing a substance with a presumptive positive test result for methamphetamine.

The complaint noted that Ganser had been convicted of DWI in December 2014 in Pennington County and in September 2018 in Red Lake County.
