Stormwater Utility Rate Hike Hits Thief River Falls Residents and Businesses

Thief River Falls, MN (trfnews.i234.me) – The Thief River Falls City Council approved a resolution to increase stormwater utility rates at its meeting on October 15. The new rates will take effect starting January 1.

Residential properties will see an increase of $0.50 per month in their stormwater utility bills, bringing the total rate to $6.50 per month. Commercial and industrial properties with impervious areas will be charged $1.00 per acre per month times 2.5 times the area, while those using a different calculation method will be charged $15.50 per acre per month times 1.5 times their entire property area.

The rate hike aims to fund stormwater management and infrastructure projects in the city.
