Stewartville (trfnews.i234.me) – Stewartville High School resumed classes today with a delayed start after a student was shot in the school parking lot on Friday. Authorities confirmed that the shooting occurred as the school’s wrestling team was boarding a bus for a trip to Grand Forks around 5:00 a.m. The gunman shot a student before taking his own life with a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

The victim, a member of the wrestling team, was rushed to a Rochester hospital and remains in critical but stable condition. As of now, there is no information connecting the shooter to the victim, and authorities continue to investigate the situation.

In response to the tragedy, Stewartville schools announced that classes would begin late today, with additional police presence on campus to ensure the safety of students and staff. All students have been encouraged to wear Tiger gear to show their pride and support for the school community during this difficult time.

Local authorities, including Homestead County officials, are working with the school to ensure that students feel safe and supported as they return to class. The school district has also assured parents and guardians that further updates will be provided as the investigation continues.
