STEPHEN, Marshall County (trfnews.i234.me) — A Georgia man is facing a felony charge in Marshall County District Court after a child sexual abuse report tied to Stephen, Minnesota.
Dewayne Broadrick Adam, 44, of Trion, Georgia, is charged with first-degree criminal sexual conduct. The case is filed in Minnesota’s Ninth Judicial District under court file number 45-CR-26-15.
The complaint says Adam is accused of sexually abusing a child between about 2016 and 2018. The child was about 4 to 6 years old at the time, according to the complaint.
The charge carries a maximum sentence of 30 years in prison. It also carries a possible $40,000 fine, or both. More information about the statute is available through the Minnesota Revisor of Statutes.
Report Began In North Dakota
According to the complaint, the case began after a report was made in North Dakota. A student reportedly wrote about being molested when he was younger.
The complaint says the student identified Adam as the person involved. The alleged abuse was reported to have happened in Stephen, Minnesota.
Authorities say the child described being touched during baths. The child also described being touched while watching movies, according to the complaint.
Forensic Interview Cited
A forensic interview was later conducted at the Red River Child Advocacy Center in Grand Forks. The complaint says the child’s mother reported he was in counseling.
She also reported the child had struggled with depression, anxiety, and suicidal thoughts. The complaint says the child had not seen Adam for about five years.
The complaint states that Adam sometimes babysat the child. It alleges the abuse happened more than once.
The child’s mother told authorities the family wanted to move forward with charges. The complaint also states that Adam was under supervision for a child pornography case.
