St. Cloud (trfnews.i234.me) – A terrifying fire incident inside a St. Cloud group home has led to the felony arrest of Abdijamal Mohamed, after authorities say he intentionally set a couch on fire inside his room, filling the unit with smoke.
WHAT HAPPENED?
On February 24 at 8:07 p.m., St. Cloud Police responded to a behavioral health complaint at a group home on Clearwater Road. Upon arrival, officers discovered thick smoke coming from Mohamed’s unit and a couch that had been burned.
GROUP HOME STAFF FORCED TO ACT FAST!
Before emergency responders arrived, staff members had to use a fire extinguisher to put out the flames, preventing a larger disaster.
POLICE SAY HE ADMITTED TO SETTING THE FIRE
According to reports, Mohamed confessed to throwing a t-shirt onto the couch and lighting it on fire.
DAMAGE COSTS ADD UP
Authorities estimate the cost to replace the couch at around $400-$500.
Mohamed is now facing a felony third-degree arson charge and remains in Stearns County custody.
