Sorlie Bridge Temporarily Closed for Welfare Check in Grand Forks: False Alarm Resolved Without Incident

EAST GRAND FORKS, MN (trfnews.i234.me) – The Sorlie Bridge on Demers Avenue, connecting Grand Forks and East Grand Forks, was briefly closed late Saturday night due to a welfare check. The closure occurred just before midnight, primarily on the East Grand Forks side.

According to dispatch reports, authorities were alerted by a concerned citizen about a person standing on the bridge who was possibly suicidal. However, upon arrival, police determined that the situation was not as serious as initially feared. Officers spoke with the individual, who then left the area without any issues. The bridge was reopened shortly after, and no further action was necessary.
