POLK COUNTY, MN (trfnews.i234.me) — Sonja Robin Plantz, a 42-year-old woman from Minnesota, pleaded guilty to felony first-degree sale of at least 17 grams of methamphetamine over 90 days. She also admitted to misdemeanor fourth-degree driving while under the influence of a controlled substance.
The felony charge carries a maximum sentence of 30 years in prison, although Minnesota’s sentencing guidelines recommend between 56 and 150 months. An additional first-degree count with an enhanced penalty due to Plantz’s prior drug-related conviction is expected to be dismissed as part of her plea agreement.
According to court documents, Plantz was pulled over by law enforcement in March after a K-9 detected a controlled substance odor emanating from her vehicle. She allegedly admitted to having methamphetamine in the car and using it that morning. A later drug test confirmed this.
A search of the vehicle revealed a bag containing 3.8 grams of suspected methamphetamine, which field-tested positive for the presence of the controlled substance. Plantz claimed she had agreed to sell an ounce of methamphetamine to someone in Polk County for $600 and was on her way back from making that sale when she was pulled over.
Sentencing is scheduled for February 6 at 9 a.m.
