Silver Creek Township, Wright County (trfnews.i234.me) A Brainerd woman is facing two DWI-related charges. The case follows a crash on Interstate 94.
Katelyn Ashley Johnson, 30, of Brainerd, is charged in Wright County District Court. One count is a gross misdemeanor traffic DWI test refusal. A second count is misdemeanor traffic DWI.
Crash on I-94
The complaint says the crash happened around 12:11 a.m. on June 6, 2025. It took place in Silver Creek Township. A Chrysler PT Cruiser had heavy front-end damage.
Troopers say the PT Cruiser rear-ended a semi-truck. They identified Johnson as the driver. Troopers reported signs of alcohol impairment.
The complaint says Johnson showed clues of impairment during field tests. Troopers also say she refused a preliminary breath test.
Squad car and hospital claims
Johnson was arrested and taken to a Monticello hospital, the complaint says. Troopers reported hostile behavior during the ride. They also report she urinated in the back seat.
At the hospital, the complaint says Johnson used profanity and racial slurs. The complaint says she disrupted the process. Public records did not list the slurs.
Troopers say Johnson was read the implied consent advisory. They say she was told refusal is a crime. The complaint says she still refused blood or urine testing.

Court filing
The alleged offense date is June 6, 2025. The case was filed on February 9, 2026. Court records show the charges were issued by summons.
Criminal charges are allegations. A defendant is presumed innocent. The case will be handled in Wright County District Court in Buffalo.
