Second Arrest Warrant Issued for Grand Forks Man in Fatal East Grand Forks Crash

GRAND FORKS, ND (trfnews.i234.me) A second arrest warrant has been issued for a Grand Forks man wanted in connection to a deadly East Grand Forks crash. Now, Valentin Mendoza failed to appear for a probation hearing in connection to a robbery.
a second arrest warrant has now been issued for valentin mendoza this time out of grand forks district court where he failed to show up for a probation violation hearing on this friday morning in connection to the 2019 robbery of a grand forks convenience store last friday a warrant for his arrest was issued just across the river in east grand forks polk county in connection to a deadly crash this summer for background on that here’s our story from last friday an arrest warrant has now been issued for 20 year old valentin mendoza of grand forks charges have now been filed in this deadly crash on highway 220 on the north side of east grand forks on june 17th court documents say mendoza sent a social media message three minutes before this crash that he was going to commit suicide the criminal complaint says mendoza was driving the ford ranger on the left when he crossed the center line and crashed head on into the gmc envoy on the right the envoys driver and passengers 17 year old ethan carson and 16 year old damien powell would succumb to their injuries and both die days after the crash according to court documents mendoza’s girlfriend stated that she received a snapchat message from mendoza which showed him driving and he stated he was going to commit suicide that message was sent at 3 05 p.m on june 17th the crash was at 308 pm the court documents also state mendoza was traveling at 75 miles per hour at the time of the crash and the driver of the envoy carson was going 65 the posted speed limit in that area is 45 miles per hour valentin mendoza iv has now been charged with two felony counts of criminal vehicular homicide operate vehicle in grossly negligent manner each of the two counts carries a maximum sentence of 10 years in prison and or a 20 000 fine again arrest warrants have now been issued out of grand forks and polk counties for mendoza as of this friday october 29th mendoza remains on the run with family connections in texas i’m Neil Berg reporting for trfnews.i234.me
