Saint Paul, Minnesota (trfnews.i234.me) — Two men are facing felony charges in connection with a violent robbery attempt that left a man shot in the face in Saint Paul earlier this month. A third suspect remains at large as the investigation continues.

According to criminal complaints filed in Ramsey County District Court, the suspects — Omar Abdi Mohamed, 26, and Omar Mohamud Ibrahim, 19 — are accused of coordinating a targeted armed attack on a parked vehicle.

📍What Happened:

Around 5 a.m. on March 10, 2025, officers were alerted by Hennepin County Medical Center (HCMC) after a gunshot victim arrived with a facial wound. The victim had first been driven to M Health Fairview Hospital before being transferred.

Investigators determined the shooting took place near Emerald Street and Ellis Avenue in Saint Paul. The victim and his girlfriend had been asleep in a white Ford Expedition, parked outside the apartment at 2700 University Avenue, where they were moving in.

The girlfriend told police she awoke to find two armed men outside the vehicle — one on each side. One wore all-black clothing, a blue paisley bandana, and appeared to be Somali. The victim was urged to drive off, but the suspects moved in front of the SUV. As the vehicle pulled forward, one suspect fired into the windshield, striking the victim near the mouth.

Despite the injury, the victim managed to drive a short distance before switching seats with his girlfriend, who rushed him to the hospital.

🧾Evidence & Surveillance:

  • A bullet fragment and spent casing were recovered at the scene.

  • Security footage showed Mohamed, Ibrahim, and a third man entering the apartment building at 3:40 a.m.

  • After the shooting, two suspects were seen running away and later regrouping at a Minneapolis gas station, where they were picked up in a black Audi registered to Ibrahim.
