Electrical fires are a leading cause of residential fires in the United States. According to the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA), electrical distribution or lighting equipment was involved in approximately 34,000 home structure fires per year between 2014 and 2018, resulting in an estimated 470 civilian deaths and $1.4 billion in direct property damage annually. Regular inspection of electrical systems and prompt attention to any issues can significantly reduce the risk of such fires.
