Roseau Man Charged Over $440 Dishonored Check
Roseau (trfnews.i234.me) — Jacob Jon Jenson faces a gross misdemeanor charge involving an alleged dishonored check at Roseau Ace Hardware.
Court records say the check was issued on January 23, 2026. The complaint alleges the account lacked enough money to cover the payment. Prosecutors say the check was written from an account at Border Bank.
Check Payment Leads To Criminal Charge
The filing says Jenson signed check number 5250 for a purchase at Roseau Ace Hardware. The complaint lists a $30 service charge after the check was returned.
The court document contains two different amounts for the original check. One section lists the check as $410.43. Another section lists the check as $410.33. The filing states the total amount due was $440.33.
That total matches the $410.33 figure plus the $30 service charge. TRF News has not independently resolved the difference between the two listed amounts.

Authorities say the check was returned because the account had insufficient funds. The complaint also alleges payment was not made after a formal demand.
According to the filing, Jenson did not pay within five business days. Prosecutors cite that allegation under Minnesota’s dishonored-check law.
Charge Is A Gross Misdemeanor
Jenson is charged under Minnesota Statute 609.535. The complaint classifies the offense as a gross misdemeanor.
The filing lists a maximum penalty of 364 days in jail. It also lists a possible fine of up to $3,000. A judge determines any sentence after a conviction.
The case is filed in Roseau County District Court within Minnesota’s Ninth Judicial District. Public court information is available through the Minnesota Judicial Branch.
Case Remains Pending
A criminal complaint contains allegations and a statement of probable cause. It does not establish guilt. Jenson is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.
No conviction is reported in the complaint provided to TRF News. Future court filings may provide more details about the case.
