Ronald Franklin Hunsberger, age 80, of Larimore, ND, passed away on Saturday, April 13, 2024, at Altru Hospital.
Ron was born on October 3, 1943, in Philadelphia, PA, to Benjamin and Mary Hunsberger. Ron enlisted in the Navy, serving from 1961 to 1967, including time in Vietnam. He met Vicki Franson, and they were married in 1971 in Philadelphia. Ron convinced Vicki to move back to Larimore for two years, and they never left, choosing to raise their sons, Drew and Dana, in a small town.
Ron ran his own painting company until accepting a job at the State School in Grafton where he worked for 30 years until he retired. He was a hunter’s education instructor for over 40 years, a member of the Jaycees, and an active member of the Larimore Museum board. Ron enjoyed watching (and videotaping) every one of his sons’ sporting events, band concerts, and other activities.
Ron is survived by sons Drew (Lana) and Dana (Shannon), both of Bemidji; son Lance of Fargo; grandchildren Matt, Ryananne, Jaden, Jordan, McKenna, Declan, and Nolan; along with several great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and cousins. He is preceded in death by his parents, sister Claire, wife Vicki, and long-time best friend Gary Rankin.
A Celebration of Life will be scheduled later this summer. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be sent to the Larimore Community Museum (PO Box 524) or the Larimore Ambulance Service (PO Box 365), both of Larimore, ND 58251.
