GRAND FORKS, ND (trfnews.i234.me) – A Rochester, Minnesota, man, Daniel Herman Henke, 28, was sentenced on Friday, June 14, to serve two years in prison for luring a minor by an electronic device, a Class C felony.

Henke pleaded guilty to the crime in February. The case began in July of the previous year when a 15-year-old girl reported receiving inappropriate text messages from Henke. A Grand Forks County sheriff’s deputy then initiated a text conversation with Henke, posing as the teenage girl. The conversation quickly turned sexual, with Henke acknowledging the girl’s age and the potential legal consequences.

Henke sent unsolicited nude pictures and suggested traveling to Grand Forks to meet the girl for sex. On July 23, Henke sent a screenshot of a four-day hotel reservation and traveled from Des Moines, Iowa, to Grand Forks. He planned to meet the girl on July 25 in Emerado but was arrested at a local Dairy Queen.

As part of a plea agreement, Henke’s other charge, Class A misdemeanor solicitation of a minor, was dismissed. He was sentenced to five years at the North Dakota Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation, with three years suspended, and will be on supervised probation for five years. Henke must also register as a sexual offender, have no contact with the juvenile victim, and complete a sex offender evaluation and any recommended treatments.
