Grand Forks County (trfnews.i234.me) – A man with a history of dangerous behavior is back behind bars in Grand Forks after a disturbing late-night incident involving an attempted sexual assault.
According to Sergeant Stephen of the Grand Forks Police Department, officers were dispatched at 11:25 p.m. Wednesday to the 4000 block of Gateway Drive following a report of an attempted sexual assault.
An initial investigation revealed that Andrew Chase Ebertowski had allegedly forced his way into a female neighbor’s apartment, grabbed her, and said he wanted to sleep with her. He then reportedly pushed her against the kitchen counter. The victim managed to break free without injury and ran to a nearby friend’s apartment, where she called 911.
Officers arrived at the scene and located Ebertowski still inside the woman’s apartment. He was arrested on charges of burglary, terrorizing, felonious restraint, and attempted sexual assault.
Police say Ebertowski is the sole suspect in this case, and there is no known ongoing threat to the public.
Notably, Ebertowski is the same individual who was previously involved in a high-speed police pursuit in Grand Forks in December 2023. That chase ended in a crash on 4th Avenue South, where Ebertowski fled on foot. Surveillance footage captured the sound of the crash. Police say he had been clocked at 70 mph before losing control. After an eight-minute foot chase, he was arrested, with only one shoe on, while the other was found at the crash site.
Following the 2023 pursuit, he was charged with felony reckless endangerment, fleeing, and duty upon striking an unattended vehicle. He was also suspected of hitting a parked vehicle on Landeco Lane earlier that evening.
Now, with fresh charges in a new case, Ebertowski’s criminal history continues to grow, and authorities urge anyone with further information to contact the Grand Forks Police Department.
