MARSHALL COUNTY (trfnews.i234.me) — Robert “Red” Blazejewski, 84, of Strandquist, Minnesota, passed away peacefully on Sunday morning, October 5, 2025, at Karlstad Senior Living in Karlstad, surrounded by loved ones.
Robert Jerome Blazejewski was born on June 4, 1941, at home in Wright Township, Marshall County, to Florian and Clara (Borowicz) Blazejewski. He attended Oakridge Country School until fourth grade and later graduated from Strandquist High School in 1959, where he enjoyed playing basketball.
Robert spent his entire life on the family farm, raising dairy and beef cattle, sheep, and horses. He had a lifelong passion for farming—especially raising cattle and growing crops. His favorite pastime was visiting the local sales barn each week to buy livestock. Known throughout the area as a hardworking and friendly man, Robert was a proud example of dedication to family farming in northern Minnesota.
On August 21, 1971, he married Janice Banaszewski. Together, they raised eight children and shared 54 years of marriage. Beyond his devotion to farming, Robert loved the simple joys of life—spending time with family, visiting neighbors and cousins, cheering on Minnesota sports teams, playing cards, fishing, and enjoying time outdoors. He passed along his love of deer hunting to his children and grandchildren.
Robert was a lifelong member of Assumption Catholic Church of Florian and lived by a strong Catholic faith that he shared with his family. He also served for several years on the Strandquist School Board, reflecting his dedication to community and education.
Robert is survived by his wife, Janice; children Rochelle Anderson (Lynn Szczepanski), Renae Lehrer, Jason (Erin) Blazejewski, Rachel (Jonathan) Pearson, Tiffany (Jeff) Bring, Tara (Dustin) Holmstrom, Justin Blazejewski, and Aaron Blazejewski; 22 grandchildren; one great-grandson, Asher; sister, Barbara Banaszewski; and brother-in-law, Raymond Benke.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Mary (Evald) Kujava; son-in-law, Brian Lehrer; brother-in-law, Dewayne Banaszewski Sr.; sisters-in-law, Carol Benke and Janet Gostanczik; and in-laws, Frank and Florence Banaszewski.
Friends and family remember Robert for his three guiding principles: Faith, Family, and Farming. He leaves behind a legacy of love, hard work, and devotion that will continue to inspire all who knew him.
Please keep Robert “Red” Blazejewski and his family in your thoughts and prayers.
