Red Lake Falls Woman Faces Felony Strangulation Charge

Red Lake Falls (trfnews.i234.me) — Kyah Marie Schultz-Lind faces two domestic assault charges in Red Lake County District Court.

Prosecutors allege Schultz-Lind punched and strangled her sister during an August 18, 2026, family dispute.

She faces felony domestic assault by strangulation and misdemeanor domestic assault.

Deputies Respond to Family Disturbance

Deputies responded to a Red Lake Falls residence after receiving a report of a family disturbance.

Authorities heard yelling inside the home when they arrived, according to the criminal complaint.

Heather Rayne Schultz was inside with her daughters, Kyah Marie Schultz-Lind and Chloe Ione Schultz-Lind.

Investigators described Kyah Schultz-Lind as upset and speaking loudly during the initial contact.

Deputies separated the family members while trying to determine what had happened.

Heather Schultz told investigators that Kyah Schultz-Lind had assaulted Chloe earlier outside the residence.

Argument Allegedly Turns Physical

The complaint says tensions had been building throughout the day.

Family members reported several arguments involving Kyah Schultz-Lind before the alleged assault.

Later, Heather Schultz followed both sisters outside near a neighboring trailer.

She then allegedly saw Kyah Schultz-Lind swing at Chloe Schultz-Lind.

Heather Schultz said Kyah struck Chloe on the left side of her head.

The blow was allegedly delivered with a closed fist.

Prosecutors say Kyah then wrapped an arm around Chloe’s neck and squeezed.

A family member contacted law enforcement while the alleged assault was happening.

Sister Confirms Alleged Assault

Investigators separately asked Chloe Schultz-Lind whether her sister had assaulted her.

The complaint says Chloe indicated that the assault had occurred.

Kyah Schultz-Lind was then detained while deputies continued the investigation.

She was later arrested and transported to a correctional facility.

During transport, investigators discussed the allegations with Schultz-Lind.

The complaint says she responded that the allegations only meant she had won the fight.

Prosecutors cite that statement as part of the probable-cause case.

Two Domestic Assault Charges Filed

The felony charge is filed under Minnesota Statute 609.2247.

The law covers strangulation against a family or household member.

The felony carries up to three years in prison and a $5,000 fine.

The case is State of Minnesota v. Kyah Marie Schultz-Lind.

The court file number is 63-CR-26-144.

Public case information is available through Minnesota Court Records Online.

The criminal complaint contains allegations and does not establish Schultz-Lind’s guilt.
