On the morning of 08/24/26, the Red Lake County Sheriff’s Office received a report that someone had driven through a corn field south of Red Lake Falls, and some of the standing crops were damaged. Red Lake County deputies responded to the scene to investigate, but the suspect vehicle was no longer in the area. It appeared that incident occurred sometime the night before. This report remains under investigation.
On 08/24/26, formal criminal complaints were filed, charging Keric Carpenter (25) of Oklee and Kayla Gill (23) of Oklee with felony malicious punishment of a child under 4 years of age, felony neglect of a child resulting in harm and gross misdemeanor contributing to the need for child protection or services. The criminal complaints allege Mr. Carpenter and Ms. Gill maliciously punished their child, who was under 4 years of age, by inflicting or allowing the infliction of nonaccidental traumatic injuries, including multiple fractures to the child’s arms, legs, and ribs, causing bodily harm. The complaint alleges this occurred in Oklee in February of 2026. The child victim has been placed on a protective hold and into foster care since the discovery of the incident Both individuals will be summonsed to appear in Court in Red Lake Falls in September of 2026.
On 08/24/26, a formal criminal complaint was filed, charging Richard Wayne Reierson (38) of Lino Lakes, MN with gross misdemeanor DUI and misdemeanor driving after revocation. The complaint alleges that Mr. Reierson operated a motor vehicle on CR. #13 west of Red Lake Falls in March of 2025 while he was under the influence of methamphetamine. His driver’s license was also revoked at that time. Mr. Reierson is currently in the Pennington County jail in Thief River Falls for another unrelated crime. He will turned over to Red Lake County authorities to face these criminal charges once those matters are settled.
On the evening of 08/24/26, an Emardville Township resident reported a theft of property from their residence. That report is still under investigation.
On the afternoon of 08/26/26, the Red Lake County Sheriff’s Office received a report of horses running loose near the roadway on CR. #7 in Lambert Township. A Red Lake County deputy responded to the area and assisted in getting them back into their enclosure.
On the afternoon of 08/26/26, an individual turned in a pair of eyeglasses they found on International Dr. in Red Lake Falls. If anyone believes they belong to them, they can contact the Sheriff’s Office.
On the morning of 08/27/26, an individual reported they found a stray dog in Emardville Township southwest of Plummer. The dog is a reddish colored puppy with a purple caller. If anyone has information about who the dog belongs to, they can contact the Sheriff’s Office.
On the afternoon of 08/27/26, a Red Lake Falls resident reported they had a stray dog in their yard. A Red Lake County deputy apprehended the dog and took it to the pound in Thief River Falls.
