Red Lake County Sheriff’s Office Report Jul 17, 2024

On the afternoon of 07/04/24, Jade Lilja Hiniker (31) of Grand Forks was cited for speeding on CR. #13 west of Red Lake Falls.

In the early morning hours of 07/05/24, a person staying at the Oklee Inn called the Sheriff’s Office several times because they were worried about a former co-worker harming them. A Red Lake County deputy spoke with the individual and determined the concern was unwarranted. The reporting party was acting delusional, and they were informed not to call about this matter anymore or they would be arrested for falsely reporting.

On the morning of 07/05/24, a Red Lake Falls resident reported a theft of money from their residence. A Red Lake County deputy investigated the report but was unable to find any evidence of a crime.

On the morning of 07/05/24, a Red Lake Falls resident reported a theft of property from a location near Plummer. That report is still under investigation.

On the afternoon of 07/05/24, an Oklee resident reported they loaned a vehicle to a family member, and they were refusing to return it. A Red Lake County deputy spoke to the involved parties and the vehicle was returned to its owner.

On the afternoon of 07/06/24, the Red Lake County Sheriff’s Office received a report of a homeless man sitting under a tree in Plummer. A Red Lake County deputy located the man, and they were given a ride to another location.

On the evening of 07/06/24, an individual contacted a Red Lake County deputy and claimed they were going to burn down their own house because they were sick of dealing with it and wanted it destroyed. Red Lake County deputies went to the residence in Gervais Township and observed Hunter Perry James Lundeen (24) of Red Lake Falls, enter his house with a can of gasoline and a propane torch. Deputies were able to get Mr. Lundeen out of the house and place him under arrest without incident before he could light it on fire. He was taken to jail in Crookston, and he was booked for felony attempted arson, misdemeanor disorderly conduct, misdemeanor driving after suspension and obstructing. He appeared in Court in Crookston on 07/08/24 and he was ordered to pay $1,200 cash bail in order to be released. On 07/10/24, Mr. Lundeen posted bond and was released from custody, but he must abide by several court-ordered conditions. His next hearing has been scheduled for 07/17/24 in Red Lake Falls.

In the early morning hours of 07/07/24, the Red Lake County Sheriff’s Office received a report of campers making a lot of noise at a park in Plummer. A Red Lake County deputy responded, and the matter was resolved.

On the morning of 07/07/24, a Red Lake County deputy responded to a dispute between two neighbors in Brooks. The deputy spoke with the involved parties and mediated the situation.

On the afternoon of 07/07/24, Levi Craig Flatgard (21) of Oklee was cited for speeding on CR. #5 north of Oklee.

On the afternoon of 07/07/24, Michael James Lee (58) of Roseau was cited for speeding on CR. #5 north of Oklee.

On the evening of 07/07/24, a Red Lake County deputy responded to a report of a minor collision between two vehicles at the Eagle Square parking lot in Red Lake Falls. A parked vehicle was backed into, causing minor damage. There were no injuries, and an accident report was completed and given to both drivers.

On the evening of 07/07/24, neighbors at an apartment building in Red Lake Falls each reported they were being harassed by the other. A Red Lake County deputy spoke with both parties and counseled them. The situation was mediated.

In the early morning hours of 07/08/24, Red Lake County deputies and the Oklee Ambulance were dispatched to a Poplar River Township residence to attend to an individual who was injured in a fight. An individual was treated at the scene for minor injuries, but they were not transported by the Ambulance. Investigation revealed underage individuals had been consuming alcohol and two of them had gotten into a physical altercation. Lucas James Fuller (18) of Barnesville, MN was cited for misdemeanor minor consumption of alcohol and disorderly conduct. Josiah Michael Campbell (18) of Finley, ND was cited for misdemeanor disorderly conduct. Two juvenile females from Moorhead were both criminally charged for minor consumption of alcohol.

On the morning of 07/08/24, a Plummer resident reported that a juvenile had pointed a firearm at their child the evening before. A Red Lake County deputy investigated the incident and found that it was a BB-gun. The parents and child were counseled, and the matter was closed.

On the morning of 07/08/24, the city of Red Lake Falls reported property damage to the bathrooms in Riverside Park. That report remains under investigation.

On the afternoon of 07/08/24, the Red Lake County Sheriff’s Office received a report of a man wandering around in a residential area in Red Lake Falls. Red Lake County law enforcement located the individual and found that he was having medical issues. The Red Lake Falls Ambulance responded to the scene and attended to the man. He refused transport and was brought back to his residence.

On the morning of 07/09/24, a Red Lake Falls resident reported that a man threatened to injure their dog. A Red Lake County deputy spoke with the suspect, and they were counseled and warned about their behavior.

On the afternoon of 07/09/24, the Oklee Fire Department was dispatched to a report of a transformer box that was on fire along CR. #5 north of Oklee. Red Lake Electric crews also responded to the scene and were able to get the situation under control.

On the afternoon of 07/09/24, Red Lake County deputies responded to Oklee to speak with two individuals who were having a verbal dispute. The involved parties were counseled and warned, and the situation was mediated.

On the afternoon of 07/10/24, the Red Lake County Sheriff’s Office received a report of illegal dumping at the Browns Creek Township dumpster. A Red Lake County deputy spoke with the suspect, and they made arrangements to pay the sanitation service for the cleanup. The matter was resolved.

On the afternoon of 07/11/24, the Red Lake County Sheriff’s Office received a report from a Red Lake Falls resident who claimed their dog left their yard, went down a steep bank, and was stranded on the Red Lake River. The deputy used a drone to locate the dog and personnel from the Red Lake Falls Fire Department launched a boat to retrieve the dog and return it to its owner.
