On the afternoon of 02/15/25, the Red Lake County Sheriff’s Office received a report of an occupied vehicle in the ditch along CR. #5, near 2nd Ave. in Oklee. A Red Lake County deputy responded and when they arrived an adult male exited the vehicle that was stuck in the snow. Investigation revealed the driver, Jason Lee Aakhus (51) of Red Lake Falls was intoxicated. Mr. Aakhus was arrested, taken to jail in Crookston and he was booked for felony DWI and for violating the terms of his supervised probation. He remains in custody at the time of this release.

On the afternoon of 02/27/25, Red Lake County deputies counseled and advised two individuals who were having a dispute over custody of a shared child. The issue was mediated and both parties were advised to have their custody agreement reviewed by a Judge in civil court if they were unhappy with the current arrangement. The deputies also supervised the child exchange and helped keep the peace.
On the afternoon of 02/19/25, the Dollar General Store in Red Lake Falls requested assistance with an unruly customer. A Red Lake County deputy responded, and the customer left the store without any further incident.
On the morning of 02/20/25, a Red Lake County deputy assisted a motorist who struck a deer on CR. #3 west of Red Lake Falls. The vehicle was substantially damaged and had to be towed from the scene, but the driver was not injured.
On the afternoon of 02/20/25, Miles Robert Moore (19) of Crookston was cited for speeding on Main Ave. in Red Lake Falls.
On the evening of 02/20/25, Red Lake County deputies responded to Louisville Township to look for an individual who left a residence and their fiancé was concerned about their welfare. The individual was located and returned safely to their home.
