News Release 04-19-24

On the afternoon of 04/11/24, the Red Lake County Sheriff’s Office participated in the statewide Tornado Drill by activating the Weather Warning Sirens in the cities within Red Lake County at 1:45pm and again at 6:45pm.

On the afternoon of 04/12/24, a Red Lake Falls resident reported damage to their vehicle that had been parked at their residence. A Red Lake County deputy spoke with the reporting party and the matter remains under investigation.

On the afternoon of 04/12/24, a Red Lake Falls resident reported that someone broke into their apartment and attempted to steal a TV. Red Lake County deputies responded to and spoke with individual who reported the incident. This case is still under investigation.

On the morning of 04/13/24, the Red Lake County Sheriff’s Office received a report of a domestic disturbance at a Red Lake Falls residence. A Red Lake County deputy responded and found that a parent and a teenage child were having a dispute. The involved parties were counseled, and the incident was mediated.

On the morning of 04/16/24, the Red Lake County Sheriff’s Office received several reports of a female walking along Hwy. #59 south of Brooks. It was reported that she was dressed in black, and they were concerned she may get struck by a passing vehicle. A Red Lake County deputy and a Minnesota State Trooper responded to the scene. The individual was located and was given a ride to their residence in Mahnomen by the Trooper.

On the morning of 04/16/24, the Red Lake County Sheriff’s Office received a report of an individual trespassing at a Red Lake Falls location. A Red Lake County deputy responded and found that individual was visiting a residence they had been invited to, so no crimes had been committed.

On the evening of 04/16/24, the Red Lake County Sheriff’s Office received a report about possible financial exploitation of a vulnerable adult. A Red Lake County deputy spoke with the possible victim and another family member. They were able to get the situation resolved and no crimes were perpetrated.

On the afternoon of 04/17/24, the Red Lake County Sheriff’s Office received a report of a sexual assault. That report remains under investigation.

On the afternoon of 04/17/24, Lee Alan Kaml (56) of Red Lake Falls was cited for misdemeanor driving after revocation and expired motor vehicle registration on International Dr. in Red Lake Falls.

On the afternoon of 04/18/24, the Red Lake County Sheriff’s Office received a report of possible check fraud. That investigation is ongoing.
