Rear-End Collision on Interstate 35 in Freeborn County Sends One to Hospital

Freeborn County, MN (trfnews.i234.me)—A rear-end collision involving a Chrysler minivan and a semi-truck occurred on the evening of January 25, 2025, on Interstate 35 near mile marker 18 in Bancroft Township. Both vehicles were traveling northbound when the crash took place.

The driver of the 2024 Chrysler minivan, Aaron James Miles, 38, of Coon Rapids, MN, sustained non-life-threatening injuries and was transported to the Mayo Clinic Health System for treatment. The minivan’s airbags deployed during the incident, contributing to the driver’s safety.

The second vehicle, a 2025 International semi-truck, was driven by Jermey Tyvon Smith, 24, of Kansas City, MO. Smith was not injured in the crash, and no airbags deployed in the semi. Authorities are still verifying whether the semi-truck driver was wearing a seatbelt.

Road conditions were reported as dry, and alcohol was not a factor in the incident. Emergency responders from the Clarks Grove Fire Department, the Freeborn County Sheriff’s Office, and Mayo Ambulance were on the scene to assist.
