Rapid Friday Night Storm Sweeps Through Grand Forks

GRAND FORKS, ND (trfnews.i234.me) A fast moving storm roared through Grand Forks Friday evening, uprooting some trees and even blowing a trampoline over a house.
a breaking news out of grand forks on this friday evening we just had a storm or a roar through town uh just talk with the national weather service who said they had a reading in town of 51 miles per hour however the wind speeds were apparently much higher we’ll show you this in a bit here along gateway drive across from sim plot by simonson’s lumber the wind was strong enough to uproot trees the weather service says these were straight line winds and a micro burst and that winds at the specific location that could have been much higher and missed the sensors that they have out and about around town but as you can see here those winds were strong enough to totally uproot these trees along a gateway drive now let’s look at some other locations in town okay this is a boy drive along the english cooley the street is blocked our camera person can get through on this street uh trees down in the middle of the street here on uh boyd drive uh just off the english coulee uh near und’s campus and now look what you’re gonna see at this next residence the homeowner here says this trampoline now in the front yard was in their backyard and apparently blew right over their house into this tree in the front yard and we’re getting reports of uh more tree branches and other things knocked around town again the national weather service says this was a microburst with straight-line winds which can greatly vary in speed from location to location i’m Neil Berg reporting for trfnews.i234.me
